Fargo country singer-songwriter Eldon Johnson is heading to Nashville, Tenn., this week where he is one of five finalists in the Colgate Country Showdown National finals to vie for a recording contract, $100,000 and the distinction of being named the Best New Country Act when he competes Thursday, Jan., 24, 2008 in the world-famous Rymann Auditorium - home of the Grand Ole Opry. Johnson won the N.D. State Final and took home top honors in regional competition to be among the elite singer that have risen to the top culled from some 10,000 tryouts. I caught up to him during his sendoff show last Friday night at O'Kelly's in Fargo.
