ABOUT THIS PHOTOGRAPH...

My good friend and fellow photog Darren Gibbins gave me a heads up this morning about the sundogs in south Fargo so I proceeded immediately to the Church of the Nativity in south Fargo. Sundogs, or parhelia - their scientific name, occur in nature when the sun is low and the refraction of sunlight by small ice crystals making up cirrus clouds form a circle or halo. As the sun rises, the sundogs slowly move away from the sun and gradually disappear ending this optical phenomenon
